Young Teaching Artists who will be leading arts-based learning this July in Oakland

Blanca

My name is Blanca, I am from El Salvador and I have been living in Oakland for 7 months. I like to work with children and I especially like to make and create art because it is a way of expressing the beauty of a human being. Being in this program and working with Art Stars excited me and I know I’ll enjoy it because I’ll do art and that’s what fascinates me.

Blanca was born in El Salvador. She speaks Spanish and English.

Chanvattey

I am a proud Cambodian girl. I came to Oakland in 2014. I love all kinds of arts including watercolor, drawing, digital drawing, sewing, collage and many more! I am so excited to work with new people and hope to learn new things from them!!

Chanvattey is from Cambodia, and has lived in Cambodia and Malaysia before coming to the U.S. She speaks Khmer and English.

Claudia

I am from Todos Santos Cuchumatan Huehuetenango Guatemala. I have been here in Oakland for 2 years and I am excited to enjoy Art Stars program because I like to work, play and take care of little kids.

Claudia was born in Guatemala, and lived briefly in Pheonix, AZ before moving to Oakland. She speaks Mam, Spanish, and English.

Sreyna

I am from Cambodia. I've been in Oakland since 2016. I love to draw. I am excited to work with kids and hoping to learn pottery with them!!

Jennyfer

Hello, my name is Jennyfer. I’m 15 years old and I’m from Mexico City. I have been here in United States for 2 years and I’m a student at Oakland International High School.

Laraib

I’m from Pakistan and I’ve been living in Oakland for 2 years. My favorite art is painting large paintings or portraits.

Laraib is from Karachi, Pakistan. She speaks Urdu and English.

I’m from Guatemala, I have been in Oakland for four years and I’m excited to join the program because I would work with others and help little kids
